The whole game, under two thumbs

Kingdoms of Dominion plays in landscape with controls drawn for touch: box-select with a drag, command with a tap, keep squads on control groups, and jump to a fight from its alert. These are screenshots from the game at the largest iPhone's screen size.

Box-select an army, keep it in squads, and set its formation, stance and patrol.

Command

Four civilizations

Every one trains villagers, infantry, archers, cavalry and siege. What changes is how well, how fast and when, and the unique unit each trains at its Castle.

Britons emblem

Britons

Defensive archery, with European architecture.

  • Foot archers reach and see 1 further in the Stronghold Age and 1 further again in the Dominion Age.
  • The Archery Range trains 12% faster.
  • Towers, the Castle and walls see 1 further.

Unique unit Longbowman, archer of the Stronghold Age. Outranges every other foot archer. Weak to skirmishers and cavalry on its flanks.

Franks emblem

Franks

Heavy cavalry, with Frankish architecture.

  • Cavalry have 15% more health from the Feudal Age, foragers gather berries 12% faster, Mill technologies cost half, and Castles cost 20% less from the Stronghold Age.
  • Team bonus (team matches only): Stable technologies cost 15% less for the whole team.

Unique unit Francisca Thrower, infantry of the Stronghold Age. Hurls axes from short range. The axes deal melee damage, so archer armour does not help; strong against spearmen.

  • Technologies cost 6% less in the Feudal Age, 11% in the Stronghold Age and 14% in the Dominion Age.

No unit wins alone

49 units across infantry, archers, cavalry and siege, and each one has an answer. Read the field, bring the counter, and wall the gaps your army cannot hold.

  • Spears and camels stop horsemen.
  • Skirmishers and riders run down foot archers.
  • Arrows and swords beat spears.
  • Riders and swords smash siege engines; bolt throwers and cannon pick them off.

Six missions across the frontier

From a first harvest in the Vale to the war for the Crownlands, after a tutorial that teaches the controls. Read the campaign

  1. 1

  3. 3

    The Frankish Charge

Silverrun Valley, as the Franks. Cinderfold held, and word of it crossed the hills.

  4. 4

More ways to play

Being built beside the first release: team battles for up to eight players, 2v2 and then 4v4, and custom scenarios you can play with friends or make in the game's own editor.

  • Kingsmoot Isle

    Built-in arena for 2v2 and 4v4

Every twenty seconds each lord gets a fresh company, sent to the isle in the moat. A team scores a point a second for each of its soldiers on the isle while no enemy stands there.

  • Hold of Heroes

Built-in hero arena for 2 to 8 players on up to four teams

Eight bases ring the arena, each a walled compound of five castles and two watchtowers whose front wall stands on the arena with three gates that open for its own team. Every player takes a base and picks a team, 1 to 4; teammates hold neighbouring bases, and a base nobody takes stays empty. Every castle trains its civilization's castle unit for free, as fast as a castle trains it (a Briton castle a longbow yeoman every 22 seconds, a Mongol one a wind rider every 24), and sends it to the circle in the middle of the base. The more castles a base keeps, the bigger its companies. Where they fight is yours to choose.

  • The Wolfsgate

Built-in tower defence for one or two wardens

Eight waves of the horde march in from the east down two lanes, one for each warden, and meet before the Wolfsgate. Every raider that reaches the gate costs a life; at no lives left the gate falls.

  • Blood on the Hill

Arena template in the scenario editor

Every twenty seconds each lord gets a fresh company, sent to the hill. A team scores a point for each of its soldiers on the hill while no enemy stands there.

  • Hold the Pass

Tower defence template in the scenario editor

Four waves march down the north and south roads, past your keeps, to the pass in the west. Every raider that reaches the pass costs a life; at no lives left the pass is lost.
